Do not say a word
To me before my coffee
Has a chance to calm my nerves.
To get between me and that first cup
Is risking life and limb.
I'm not responsible for my actions
If it's still filled to the brim.
That first sip, hot and sweet
Flashes to my brain.
Sparking to all those neurons
The ones that keep me sane.
Now I can face the day
and the world is safe again
Until I feel that need
Pushing me again.
Keep it coming again and again.
An addiction I embrace.
I keep my brain in my cup.
So I'm not running in place.
Yeah, we coffee fiends can be dangerous before our first taste of the bean...
